nesbitt house, naramata, bc
This site is a ridge extending from its switchback access point to the south. It slopes east into a ravine and west towards sweeping views of the lake. The owners were looking for a guest house and a main house. The guest house spans from a rock outcrop to the top of a garage near the site’s entrance, framing a pathway to the main house, recalling that of the Maurer house. The main house is built in two wings, a higher, more open wing to the west and a linear wing to the east, a predecessor of the Berkes house. The strength of this design is the subtle and precise ways in which it responds to its site, the placement and relationship between living spaces.
