table wine, summerland, bc
This proposal was all about craft. It proposed to combine a fine woodworking shop, winery, flower arranging studio, event space, and apartment for a symbiotic celebration of making. The closer an object gets to its material source, the more apparent its pure nature becomes, and the greater its value. This brings tourists to BC’s interior, but it can also inform our exportation of craft process to areas of greater population. What can be made locally? Can many things be made in the same facility? How can the visibility of process increase the value of product?
This proposal to the District of Summerland did not win our client the conditions he needed to realize the development, but the theme remains important to our practice.
