I was born and raised here in nelson bc, where I was introduced to the natural world, and working with my hands, at a young age. I picked up skateboarding in grade 7, and in grade 8, I got the opportunity to work with local business owner andy dobson to build my own skateboard deck. I chose to take woodworking in high school because it was a familiar choice that interested me, and I eventually found myself setting up my own shop, and then studying fine woodworking at selkirk college.
My inspiration comes from everywhere. As i observe the beauty of the world around me, I draw from the things that bring me joy, and when I decide to create something, I tap into my reserve to give me a direction for my designs.
I find great satisfaction in being efficient with my materials, by challenging myself to create functional designs using only materials that i have on hand. I fell in love with wood for its incredible beauty, practicality, and most notably its versatility. I hope to continue experimenting with woodworking and design, and experience the vast scale of what is possible when building with wood.
